Learn how to set up a 4 shaft floor or table loom for a simple project and weave it from start to finish.
This class level is for students interested in the learning the details of weaving. Learn measure a warp, wind it onto the beam, thread the heddles, sley the reed and tie on. Basic familiarity with looms and equipment is helpful and will be reviewed with each step. Focus is on simple color patterns, stripes and borders. Pattern will be provided by the Studio for this starter project. Choose from Scarf, Table Runner, Placemats or Hand Towels in available colors and yarns in stock.

Classes are 3-4 full day sessions 11am - 4 pm, approx 15 - 20 hours commitment, covering 2 days to set up your project and 1-2 days to weave and finish. Projects are expected to be completed within 2 weeks, since looms cannot be used by others until work is finished. Additional time will be charged by the hour.

About Your Instructor
Amy C. Lund has been working with textiles most of her life, beginning with handspinning yarn to knitting, weaving and other aspects of the fiber arts, in history and art museums both demonstrating and in collections management. She completed a Masters in Science Degree in Textiles and Related Art from the University of Rhode Island in 1993, eventually starting a weaving studio and gallery for teaching and creating artisan handspun yarns, hand knit and handwoven accessories and home decor textiles (scarves, handbags, table linens, blankets, rugs, tapestries), mixed media fiber art collages, textile repair and restoration work. |
